Pure Foam Mattress at Costco

November 10th, 2007 · 17 Comments

Costco mattressIn Canada, for a limited time, we’re selling a version of our Essentia mattresses at Costco for around $800. For the price it’s an incredible deal. It’s a 2lb resilient polyurethane core topped with 2 inches of our 5 lbs density natural memory foam.

This mattress, which is sold under the name Pure Foam, could easily retail for over $2000. Since Costco is a wholesaler and buys in volume they retail it for much less than your corner mattress store would.

It’s 50% off when you think of it. ;-)

UPDATE - The PURE mattress is now availalble via on our website.

i’d love to buy an essentia mattress at costco, but i can’t find any information about the “pure foam” mattresses at costco.ca.

they do carry another memory foam product called “Novaform”, but i believe this is manufactured by another company called “Sleep Innovations”.

can you provide more information about which stores are carrying the essentia-made matresses, and if they are available online as well?

    thanks!

At the current time we’re in select Quebec and Ontario Costco’s. We should have our PureFoam mattresses in Costco’s across Canada very soon.

Check back here for details soon.

Can you tell how firm is this Costco model on your firmness scale?

Any chance of your products showing up at Costco stores in states like Virginia?

If you’re looking at our firmness meter it would be 1/4 of the way through the green contouring support area.

Our mattresses won’t be in U.S. based Costco’s any time soon.

    Wonder what is required for
a foundation. The mattress at Costco
is on a box spring (not included), and
the sales people told me a foundation
of anything solid was acceptable… not
    necessarily a box spring.

I found this model a bit firm, but
    I’m giving it serious thought.

    Hello Klaus and Maria,

I had posted $800 because at that time i was unsure of the price.

It’s $750 for a Queen and $999 for a King. Pure Foams should be 8 inches thick.

    Hi Jason,
What can we use for a ‘box spring’ support for the mattress? Can you recommend a product or line that is all natural, and limits or eliminates the mites, chemicals, etc?
    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

All foam mattresses require a flat rigid surface….so…your floor, slatted bed or an existing box spring as long as it has a flat surface.

As for selecting a bed it depends on how green you want to go….. FSC certified wood, organic fabrics, no or non-toxic glues. At least go formaldehyde free.

Check out http://www.ecofurniture.ca. Andreas makes all his beds by hand.

IKEA is also a decent choice for the price believe it or not.

It all comes down to the type of wood and how it’s treated.

let me know what you find ;-)
